Gulfport Night Guards and Mouth Guard
Custom-designed mouth guards and night guards are made of flexible plastic and molded to fit the shape of your teeth.
What Is The Purpose Of A Night Guard?
Night guards are recommended for patients who clench or grind their teeth at night to protect their teeth.
What Is The Purpose Of A Mouth Guard?
Similar to a night guard, a mouth guard or sports guard is used to protect the teeth. In this case, however, the guard protects the teeth during physical activity when impact is a risk. The sports guard works to absorb the shock and force of a substantial impact. Mouth guards are recommended to protect the jaw, tongue, cheek lining and teeth during physical activity and sports such as boxing, football, basketball, or other activities where your mouth might get hit.
How Does It Work?
If you have decided a guard is right for you, your doctor will make an impression of your lower and upper teeth. Once the impression is made a plaster cast is created and sent to a laboratory to build the custom fitted mouth guard. You’ll be able to try on the guard to test it for comfort and fit.
How Long Will It Last?
Depending on use and wear and tear custom guards last 3-10 years. Make sure to take regular care of your mouth guard or sports guard but cleaning it thoroughly after each use.
